I'm putting together OpenRoot for developers who want to build something other people can use, whether that is a small tool, a library, an application or an idea they want to try.
It does not need to be the next big startup. I care more about what it does and who it could help. A small project that solves a specific problem can be worth building too.
The community side is about sharing progress and having other builders around. The program also includes free project promotion through our social channels and newsletter, plus opportunities for non-cash rewards when agreed milestones are reached and reviewed.
You can apply with a new idea or an existing project. Hackathon projects you want to keep working on can fit too. There is no fee to apply or participate, and applications are reviewed manually.
One practical detail worth knowing upfront: approved program projects are hosted in the OpenRootdev GitHub organization. For an existing project, the transfer or code-copy route is discussed separately. Reward eligibility and project terms also need agreement, so joining is not an automatic credit grant.
If that sounds relevant to what you're building, the program guide explains how it works and links to the application.
