I Built Clone to Confidence

Have you ever cloned a GitHub repository only to discover that it doesn't run as expected?

Missing dependencies, broken tests, incomplete configuration, and undocumented assumptions can make repository verification frustrating.

I built Clone to Confidence to help developers identify these problems systematically.

What It Does

Clone to Confidence is an offline-first repository auditing tool designed to make verification more explicit and reproducible.

Key features include:

  • Eight deterministic audit checks
  • PASS, FAIL, and WARN evidence
  • Confidence scoring
  • Machine-readable JSON reports
  • A local web dashboard
  • Explicit Docker and test verification
  • Create-only safe fixes

Why I Built It

I wanted to explore how developers could verify repository readiness instead of relying entirely on README instructions or assumptions.

The goal is to make repository problems easier to identify and audit.

I'm looking for honest feedback from developers.

Which repository verification problems should a tool like this prioritize next?
