Oura has launched a new patent infringement lawsuit against Ultrahuman, specifically targeting the hardware design and internal components of the Ring Pro.
The complaint alleges violations of two patents, including one granted just days before the filing, and names Texas-based manufacturer SVTronics as a defendant.
The move highlights the intensifying legal environment for companies operating in the increasingly crowded smart-ring market.
The new lawsuit comes just months after Ultrahuman redesigned its ring and managed to return to the US market, securing customs approval in March. Oura previously won a court order to ban the import of its older Ring Air model in August of last year.
According to court documents, Oura claims that the Ring Pro infringes on two of its patents covering the design and internal components of the device, such as the battery and sensors. One of the two patents was issued in Oura's favor just two days before the lawsuit was filed.
In addition to Ultrahuman, Oura is also taking legal action against the Texas-based company SVTronics, which manufactures the Ring Pro in the region.

Oura has taken legal action against other smart ring makers in the past, including Samsung, RingConn, Circular and Zepp Health. Some of those companies, like RingConn and Circular, had multi-year licensing agreements in place for royalties. Ultrahuman has not commented publicly on the case.
