A comparative test evaluates Siri and Gemini using identical personal Gmail accounts and default settings.
The benchmark measures accuracy, speed, and processing behavior across voice queries, examining key implementation differences such as mail indexing requirements.
How were the tests conducted?
The evaluation divided the queries into three categories: basic questions, finding specific information in old messages, and complex multi-step requests. One key difference observed is that Siri needs to complete indexing a new account in Apple's Mail app before it can search old messages, while Gemini offers immediate access.
Basic questions and immediate answers
On simple questions about recent data, Siri garnered better timing and more helpful answers:
- Delta flight: Siri responded in 4 seconds by giving links to emails, while Gemini also responded in 4 seconds with a concise summary but no links.
- TSA Pre-Check Deadline: Siri responded in 5 seconds with a link, unlike Gemini which took 11 seconds without providing a link.
- Instacart order: Siri successfully retrieved the order details in 9 seconds along with a link. Gemini failed, as it started searching for the app on the device and took a total of 11 seconds to report that it was unsuccessful.
Search older messages
When the two assistants were asked to find specific information in older data, the results were more divided:

- 2025 Support Number: Gemini answered correctly in 7 seconds, while Siri took 14 seconds.
- Name of person responsible in last year's contract: Both correctly gave the name "Uliana", with Siri completing in 5 seconds and Gemini in 8 seconds.
- Price of an older Samsung device: When asked about the price of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, both correctly answered $713,64. Siri took 10 seconds and Gemini took 8 seconds, resulting in a tie.
Complex requests and multi-level searches
In the most demanding tests, Siri completed tasks faster and more accurately:
- Hotel suggestion: Based on a previous resort trip in August, Siri found a suggestion in 11 seconds, while Gemini took 21 seconds.
- Total Uber Eats costs: For calculating August expenses, Siri gave the correct total in 6 seconds. Gemini took 10 seconds and skipped one of the orders.
- Cheapest offer for a van: Siri provided an answer accompanied by a comparative graph in 6 seconds, while Gemini claimed it did not have access to the data.
