When I started building my own website, I was mainly focused on getting the design and content right. But the process also helped me understand how SEO fits into website development.
Here are three things I've been learning along the way.
A website should be easy to navigate. Clear page headings, descriptive titles, and a logical structure help visitors understand the content and find what they need.
Adding keywords isn't enough. Content should answer real questions and give visitors a reason to stay. Understanding search intent has helped me think more carefully about the topics I write about.
Publishing a website is only the beginning. Reviewing performance, updating content, and identifying areas for improvement are all part of learning what works.
Building my own website has given me a place to apply these lessons instead of only learning them in theory. I'm still experimenting and improving, but every small change helps me understand digital marketing a little better.
